There are three types of communication types:

  • Verbal
  • Nonverbal
  • Written

These three types of communication have their advantages and disadvantages. Let’s discuss them one by one.

1. Verbal Communication Type:

Verbal communication is the most common type of communication in day-to-day life. We use this type of communication to communicate with our friends, family, and co-workers.

For example, if you want to tell your friend something. So you will probably use a verbal communication type to tell him or her what you want to say.

You can do it by talking to your friend or texting him or her using your smartphone and apps. It is like WhatsApp Messenger, LINE Messenger, etc.

That’s what verbal communication means in a nutshell. So this type of communication is also known as oral language and spoken language.

It is because we all talk using our mouths when we use verbal communication. So this type of communication has many advantages over other types of communication such as:

  1. it’s easy to learn (you just need some basic knowledge about English)
  2. easy to perform (you can talk as much as you want as long as you have enough breath),
  3. easy to be understood (if you speak then people will understand you easily)
  4. easy to be produced (you don’t need any special tools)

2. Nonverbal Communication Type:

Nonverbal communication is a type of communication that uses body language as the primary means of communication. It’s easy to learn, easy to perform, and easy to understand.

So this is one of the most popular types of communication. Many people don’t know that nonverbal communication is the oldest and most powerful way to communicate with other people.

For example, you can tell if someone likes you or not by his/her gestures. So this type of communication is also known as body language or kinesics.

Nonverbal communication has many advantages over verbal forms of communication because it uses body language as the main means of communicating.

3. Written Communication Type:

Written communications are messages that are sent via digital media such as email, chat messages, text messages, etc. So this type of communication is also known as message media or electronic mail (e-mail).

So this type of communication has many advantages over other forms of media. Such as, you can send your messages to anyone (no matter where he or she is) anytime you want.

Then anyone can read your message from anywhere in the world at any time. Also, you can send your message in any form you want (you don’t need to worry about how to tell your message properly), etc.

So these are some major reasons why people use their smartphones so much. It is because they want to communicate with other people from anywhere at any time quickly and easily.
